National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, a technical arm of The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is functioning with the broad objective of promoting technology development in various activities related to Ocean Engineering and Ocean Resource Exploitation. The major areas of activity of the Institute are Ocean Energy and Fresh Water, Deep Sea Technologies and Ocean Mining, Coastal and Environmental Engineering, Ocean Observation Systems, Submersibles and Gas Hydrates, Marine Sensors and Electronics and Ocean Science and Technology for Islands. Besides, NIOT manages operational programme such as National Data Buoy Programme, ships and coastal vessels to cater to the needs of various research activities.
The Institute invites applications from talented and motivated candidates to work in the challenging area of Ocean Technology against the Regular/Contract posts :
Candidates with excellent academic background, experience in relevant areas, specialization in one or more of the areas mentioned under are required to apply.
PROJECT ACCOUNTS OFFICER - I - No. of Post - 1 (Contract)
Salary Range : Rs. 36200 – 40800
Age Below 55 yrs. 1 Graduates with Professional degrees like MBA / CA / ACWA / ACS / PGDM in Mgmt. / Finance / Admn. or equivalent, with 10 years of working experience in finance at supervisory level in Govt. / Semi-Govt. organization of which at least 5 years should be in the scale of Rs.8000 - 13500 or equivalent (pre-revised).
General Conditions:- The application should be sent in A4 size plain paper, as per the format enclosed as ANNEXURE.
- The engagement is time bound and purely temporary on contract basis and on consolidated salary.
- The duration of the engagement would be initially for a period of 1 year and extendable further from time to time.
- The candidates should not have exceeded the maximum age limit specified above as on the last date of receipt of Applications. A maximum relaxation of 5 years in age is applicable to SC/ST and candidates working in Government of India / Autonomous organizations of GOI; 10 years in age is applicable to physically disabled persons and 3 years for OBC candidates. Relaxation will be given only on production of original caste certificate.
- Candidates working in NIOT are entitled for age relaxation as per NIOT rules and regulations. Age relaxation may be considered for general candidates in exceptionally deserving cases.
- The consolidated salary will be fixed anywhere in the salary range given, depending upon the experience and suitability of the candidate based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee.
- Candidates who are in Government / autonomous Institutions and PSU should forward their applications only through proper channel. However, they may send advance copies so as to reach this office on or before due date.
- NIOT may fix suitable norms for short listing the applications depending upon the number of applications received, the vacancies available and the area in which the vacancies exist.

- Out station candidates called for the Interview will be reimbursed with eligible fare by the shortest route from the place of duty / residence.
- The candidates selected are liable to work anywhere in India and can be posted against any of the projects in NIOT.
- Attested copies of certificates / testimonials should be enclosed along with the applications.
- The minimum qualifications / experience can be relaxed for candidates with exceptional and deserving cases.
- The applications or advance copies of applications received after due date or without enclosures or incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. NIOT cannot take any responsibility for transit and other delays.

- Additional weightage will be given to Candidates with GATE and other higher academic qualification.
